2021 is bringing some shows! The Wild Honey Collective will be gracing The Corner of Main & Steele in Ionia, MI with a full-length set on Sunday June 13– this band has been playing virtual shows for almost a year but this is, at last, a, for real, in-person show. No cover, bring a lawn chair!
Never one to waste an opportunity to get on the road, Jeremy Porter has a run of solo dates in the Midwest from June 17-19 – Candy Coated Cannonball has been out on vinyl since the beginning of the year but just like the aforementioned Wild Honeys, this is the first chance to truly catch Jeremy playing live in support of it. Fingers crossed for Tucos shows soon!
We had a guerilla parking lot show at GTG House over Memorial Day weekend with sets by The Plurals, Marsha, and The Hunky Newcomers. We’ll be having more of these as the shows start to come back… just what we needed! But HEY – get vaccinated! We wanna keep doing this and not have anyone die! If you think you know better than medical professionals about the safety and efficacy of vaccines, look, you just don’t. It’s awesome to be part of a secret club and to feel in-control of your destiny – as a collective of punk musicians we understand that more than most – but the so-called “anti-vaxx” movement is rooted in publicity stunts by insecure celebrities for TV ratings in the 1980s and, well, we ain’t looking for answers in Al Capone’s vault are we? Anyway, get your shot, we’ll do shots, don’t be a dick, etc etc here’s some pictures (c/o Michael Boyes ‘n Danielle Gyger).
October was wild, bringing the new releases by Extra Arms, The Stick Arounds, and Blaine and His Keyboard into the world. And now there’s some great shows this month! We’ve already had a couple bangers from The Plurals, Extra Arms, Small Parks, and The Tucos, but let’s not let my lazy web-updating self drop the ball on the rest of ’em!
11/15 – Blaine and His Keyboard @ Mac’s Bar (Lansing, MI) w/ Marc Rebillet
11/16 – Tommy Plural @ The Avenue Cafe (Lansing) w/ Invisible Cartoons
11/17 – Bong Mountain @ Sleeping Village (Chicago, IL) w/ Typesetter
11/18 – GTG House Show (Lansing) w/ Mistic Mountian and Third Twin Sister
11/21 – The Hat Madder @ Mac’s Bar (Lansing) 10 Year Anniversary Party!
11/30 – Jeremy Porter and the Tucos @ Village Idiot (Maumee, OH)
11/30 – Sleeping Timmy @ Tip Top Deluxe (Grand Rapids, MI)
12/1 – Jeremy Porter and the Tucos @ PJ’s Lager House (Detroit, MI) 7-inch Release Party!
Yep, you read that right, a new 7-inch from Jeremy Porter and the Tucos to round off a great year of releases! Wow!

This week will see the release of the first official solo album from Tommy Plural entitled “Idiot Cousin.” The person that updates this website is said Tommy Plural so I’m going to cut the third person crap and get to the point! I played all the instruments on this album and while I’ve done a couple shorter, more experimental releases as a solo studio project this is the first time I made a focused effort to create a collection of songs that are meant to hang together. And in general I spent more time on this, to the point where I worried briefly that I had fucked up my hand from trying to play beyond my meager drumming abilities. Dangerous! Here’s a song from the album called “Düdes” that tackles earth-shattering topics like hating to go to work and loving the music of Hüsker Dü.
Anyway, the project is still very much supplemental to my band work but I will be using this album as the starting point for a catalog of songs to do with various musician friends, hopefully with a tour down the line. This Saturday I’ll be performing songs from the album with a much-more-talented-than-me-solo lineup of Dave and James from Small Parks and longtime friend but first time collaborator Adam Aymor, so head over to GTG House THIS SATURDAY (April 8th) to check that out. This house show is the release party for the record and also the debut of Ryan Andrews (Red Teeth) new band No Skull, the first Lansing area show by New Jersey indie-punks Alpha Rabbit, and the return of Tim and Dim from Honah Lee! It’s GTG wild card night baby!

GTG Fest 2016: SUCCESS! Soooooo many good times. Thanks so much to The Avenue Cafe, all the raffle donors, the attendees, the bands, the city of Lansing… everyone! GTG Fest 2016 was the biggest year yet for us and we can’t wait to see what the future holds! Even if right now we’re all still nursing our sore bodies and unraveled minds! That’s how you know it’s a fest weekend!
This weekend was also really important to us because we released two new LPs and in the process had two more bands join our family! Small Parks released their debut LP “Honest Light” on vinyl (it came out digitally in the spring but now it’s a for-real real record!) Friday night, with The Stick Arounds following suit with the release of their debut (recorded live at the much beloved and missed Mystery Garage) LP “Mystery Garage” on Saturday night. Two different perspectives of the Michigan DIY community, many styles and sounds, and all good, honest pure-GTG Records goodness. You can order ’em at our store right now!
Expect further updates on these two great bands and more info on their records in the coming days. It was a great weekend and there’s still so much to take in! Good times.

Jeremy Porter & The Tucos brought their Detroit-made powerpop n’ roll to GTG House when they were touring with the Plurals earlier this spring and we’re happy to kick off the summer-ish time by releasing the latest episode of GTG Sessions, featuring four tunes by this power trio. Check out more of their music and tour dates here.

Let’s get April moving right with the latest GTG Session starring Little American Champ. Little American Champ are a Lansing-based group that we’ve collectively been playing shows with since 2010 or something. They’ve played all of our spaces and multiple GTG Fests, and in fact just held their record release party at GTG House at the end of March. Their debut LP is out now via Save Your Generation Records, and you can hear live versions of 3 of the songs from it at this very session. Hooray!
So much good stuff happening in March, and this is just in Lansing! Stay tuned for further updates about tours by The Hat Madder, Honah Lee, and The Plurals!!
