Staying Home With GTG Records!

Well, all righty where to begin? I’ll pretend that someone from the future is looking through the GTG archives, how about that? Classic narrative device!

In early 2020 a highly contagious flu called Coronavirus forced people all over the world to stay quarantined in their homes to not spread the virus so fast that it would collapse the health care system. It was a wild thing to live through, let me tell you. So what we did way back then to stay sane and try to make something positive creatively was release a series of videos every day on the GTG Records facebook page featuring solo/acoustic performances of GTG artists and friends. Most of these videos were filmed via phones or simple camera setups. It’s cool to look back on now from a safe and comfortable vantage point from the future, er, present. We called the video series “Staying At Home With GTG Records” and here’s the videos posted the first two weeks of containment in March 2020. Wow, check them out!

new-noise-twitter
Our friends at New Noise Magazine were kind enough to premiere the new music video from The Plurals today for the BRAND NEW song “Overthinking.” “Overthinking” is the lead track on the forthcoming fourth Plurals album Swish (which you can pre-order here). Follow that there link up top for more info on the video and get ready to catch The Plurals on tour!

GTG Sessions – Episode 14 – Jeremy Porter & The Tucos

Jeremy Porter & The Tucos brought their Detroit-made powerpop n’ roll to GTG House when they were touring with the Plurals earlier this spring and we’re happy to kick off the summer-ish time by releasing the latest episode of GTG Sessions, featuring four tunes by this power trio. Check out more of their music and tour dates here.

GTG Sessions – Episode 12 – Little American Champ

Let’s get April moving right with the latest GTG Session starring Little American Champ. Little American Champ are a Lansing-based group that we’ve collectively been playing shows with since 2010 or something. They’ve played all of our spaces and multiple GTG Fests, and in fact just held their record release party at GTG House at the end of March. Their debut LP is out now via Save Your Generation Records, and you can hear live versions of 3 of the songs from it at this very session. Hooray!

GTG Bands On Tour! Plurals, Honah Lee, YEAH!!

First off, check out this new video for “Facebook” by The Plurals! Shot on tour last summer, coming out now in anticipation of a new tour. Also, we discovered when we tried to advertise this video on the, uh, real facebook that you cannot promote non-official products that have the word “Facebook” in them. Well aren’t we just little rebels. But anyway, that’s the video up there. This is a link to it too, because why not?

The Plurals – Rock N Roll Music Video!

The Plurals longtime studio collaborator Eric “CrookedSound” Merckling (whose long performance and production credits include recording/ mixing all three Plurals albums) has been quietly toying with stop-motion animation for the last couple years and we’re all honored here at GTG that his debut feature for this skill is now out in the form of a music video for a song from the new Plurals album. “Rock N Roll” is probably the most chaotic song on the album, alternating between dreamy verses, sludgy choruses, a CCR-quoting bridge section and scattered Pixies-esque vocals, so it might as well also be the soundtrack to a sci-fi epic starring The Plurals. Our protagonist is a brave Nich Plural who must rescue Hattie and Tommy from the clutches of an evil alien band that is attempting to steal The Plurals’ thunder and maybe erase them from existence? You should watch it a few times to get all of the little story bits and Easter eggs that Eric slips in. Above all, it’s super cool to look at. Another 2015 victory for GTG!

And check out the Plurals’ album here if you haven’t already!
