June… Shows???

2021 is bringing some shows! The Wild Honey Collective will be gracing The Corner of Main & Steele in Ionia, MI with a full-length set on Sunday June 13– this band has been playing virtual shows for almost a year but this is, at last, a, for real, in-person show. No cover, bring a lawn chair!

Never one to waste an opportunity to get on the road, Jeremy Porter has a run of solo dates in the Midwest from June 17-19Candy Coated Cannonball has been out on vinyl since the beginning of the year but just like the aforementioned Wild Honeys, this is the first chance to truly catch Jeremy playing live in support of it. Fingers crossed for Tucos shows soon!

We had a guerilla parking lot show at GTG House over Memorial Day weekend with sets by The Plurals, Marsha, and The Hunky Newcomers. We’ll be having more of these as the shows start to come back… just what we needed! But HEY – get vaccinated! We wanna keep doing this and not have anyone die! If you think you know better than medical professionals about the safety and efficacy of vaccines, look, you just don’t. It’s awesome to be part of a secret club and to feel in-control of your destiny – as a collective of punk musicians we understand that more than most – but the so-called “anti-vaxx” movement is rooted in publicity stunts by insecure celebrities for TV ratings in the 1980s and, well, we ain’t looking for answers in Al Capone’s vault are we? Anyway, get your shot, we’ll do shots, don’t be a dick, etc etc here’s some pictures (c/o Michael Boyes ‘n Danielle Gyger).

Jeremy Porter and The Tucos New Album “Candy Coated Cannonball” OUT NOW

We haven’t had a January run this great since… ever? Referring strictly to GTG Records here but… there are signs elsewhere too! Today we’ve got a new long-player out from the best Detroit power-trio-founded-by-a-yooper-whiskey-drinkin-with-a-smile-rock-and-roll-band in all the land – Candy Coated Cannonball by Jeremy Porter and The Tucos! Stream/download and order it on vinyl and CD here.

This is an eleven song slab of the kind of righteous rock and roll that we all desperately need right now. Great riffs, catchy choruses, simultaneously slacker-y and polished, hints of Americana, Cheap Trick moments, Lemonheads echoes, literal references to both Minutemen and Big Star… sign me up! Pick up the record, pore over the notes, and memorize these songs cuz as soon as it’s safe these guys are gonna be on the road to save rock and roll, again! Check out the lyric video with behind-the-scenes footage for lead single “Dead Ringer” below!

Jeremy Porter – 1987 OUT NOW

Capping off a staggering four releases this spring is Jeremy Porter’s solo EP 1987. Jeremy is our resident Detroit dude and he knows his way around a tune. This is our fourth release with him and it’s a pleasure to share more of his acosutic side after three punky releases with his band The Tucos. 1987 is available digitally and on CD now, get it!

Jeremy Porter and The Tucos ” At Least She’s Still In Love With You” OUT NOW

To cap off a full year of touring – US, UK, and Canada, slackers! – in support of last year’s great LP “Don’t Worry It’s Not Contagious,” our resident Detroit rockers Jeremy Porter and The Tucos are kicking out a 7-inch to seal the fate of 2018 as a great year for GTG. “At Least She’s Still In Love With You” b/w “How About A Beer For Smokey The Bear?” continues this power trio’s winning streak of powerpop-Americana-garage rock that we’ve been privileged to be party to since joining forces in 2017. The guys have a pair of release shows this weekend to celebrate the new 7-inch – tonight at Village Idiot in Maumee, OH and Saturday for their only 2018 hometown show at PJ’s Lager House in Detroit! Stream the new 7-inch below and order it here!

Jeremy Porter and The Tucos – “Don’t Worry, It’s Not Contagious” LP/CD out now!

JP3
It’s out – “Don’t Worry, It’s Not Contagious,” the third LP from Jeremy Porter and The Tucos. This album features 11 songs of Replacements-y powerpop with elements of Americana and classic Detroit garage rock. The Detroit release show is this Friday 11/17 at PJ’s Lager House, and the Lansing release show is this Saturday 11/18 at The Avenue Cafe – both shows are GTG parties since The Plurals are playing too. Jeremy Porter and The Tucos came onto the GTG scene at a Mystery Garage show in 2015 and since then we’ve been sharing stages (and crowds) with them in various configurations around the Midwest. The Tucos are true road warriors and they’ll continue to bring their infectious and energetic sounds to stages around the US, Canada and beyond. Apologies if you find this album to be contagious after all – it’s out digitally, on CD, and on 180g vinyl manufactured at Third Man Record Pressing in Detroit. Hooray for GTG’s 2017 record series!

GTG Sessions – Episode 14 – Jeremy Porter & The Tucos

Jeremy Porter & The Tucos brought their Detroit-made powerpop n’ roll to GTG House when they were touring with the Plurals earlier this spring and we’re happy to kick off the summer-ish time by releasing the latest episode of GTG Sessions, featuring four tunes by this power trio. Check out more of their music and tour dates here.
