“Wilderhoney” EP Out Now!

Check out the new Wilderhoney EP via Bandcamp:

6 Tommy Plural arrangements, produced/mixed by Adam Aymor.

Tommy says:

Wilderhoney? Well, it’s within The Wild Honey Collective, but it’s also just Wilderhoney (wil- as in wilderness, wilderpeople, far out) – basically if the show is built around Adam and I shooting each other knowing looks and changing things on the fly then it’s Wilderhoney. We recorded 6 songs while jamming with Joel this fall and here it is! We’ll play most of it tonight at Moriarty’s / A Wild Honey Evening at Moriarty’s (1/26).

6 songs: traditionals, an original, a Jeremy Porter song, an Easy Rider The Byrds classic, and a Sonic Youth song that always deserved a Neil Young treatment. Wilderhoney Tommy/Adam/Joel trio with various vocal assists from Dani and A Rueful Noisers Nicholas and Jennifer. Check it out!

In the meantime, the full Wild Honey lineup of Tommy-Dani-Timmy-Dan-Adam-Joel is inching closer to completing the Volume 3 LP for a summer release. To get us through these slow winter moments the band has shot some videos, live-in-the-studio style, shot and edited by Dan Jaquint. Here’s “Don’t Close Your Eyes” – way more country rockin’ than the string band take found on Volume 2, but that’s what 2+ years of constant gigging will do to ya:

As 2023 wraps up…

Get into the wintery mood with last year’s Bermuda Snowhawk!

The 2023 edition will be shoved in some sort of stocking around the 21st!

December has the following happenings, uh, happening:

12/9 – A Rueful Noise @ Displaced Manor (Lansing)
12/10 – Wilderhoney (Trio) @ Stober’s (Lansing)

Plenty of Wild Honey+Wilderhoney in there, per usual, which will continue to be a regular occurence in 2024 with a full-length and at least 2 collaborative EPs heading for release (plus tours, festivals etc etc). No Skull vinyl is a thing that exists so a release of their full-length will be announced very soon, and A Rueful Noise, Jeremy Porter, and Narc Out The Reds are all in advanced studio stages themselves. Staying Home… One Year Later

Holy smokes, has it been a year?!?? Just over a year ago as the stay-at-home order was issued in Michigan we started doing daily videos of GTG family and friends in quarantine. Weird times, but the solidarity experienced was a pretty awesome thing to take in, though we’re not quite ready to start getting pandemic nostalgia. Here’s a playlist of Staying Home With GTG Records from spring 2020, and there are a few more on the GTG facebook that never got uploaded to youtube. Glad we’re all still here!

Best Friends Club: A No Show Space

bfc-july2020
Hey! A new thing! Looks like we’ve finally been in this pandemic long enough that some of our restless, old, show-playin’ GTG hearts are adapting to the times.

Best Friends Club is a live-streaming, live venue substitute curated by Tommy Plural, Raymond Strife, Jim Graz, & Tim Hoh.

You must join the group to join in the fun. In an effort to bring you “live music”, all performances will be streamed live and taken down within 24 hours of original broadcast. “Doors” will open 30 minutes before the music and we encourage you to engage, socialize, and support in the group and on the live-stream feeds.

These events will be free to all, but support is heavily suggested via tipping and online merch sales. We encourage you to share this group with friends and help us create a unique built-in-scene for performers and all friends of music.

This is not a space to advertise or share links. This is a space to enjoy and support “live music” in the era of no shows, and is intended to be treated like a live venue.

Our first show is this Thursday, July 1, hosted by GTG Records, featuring Nicholas Weltschmerz, Tim Hoh, and the official debut of The Wild Honey Collective, a new more folk-oriented project-kinda-sorta-Drinking-Mercury-offshoot from Tommy Plural, Timmy Rodriguez, and Danielle Gyger.

Staying Home With GTG Records – Part 2!

Here’s the next batch of videos from the Staying Home With GTG Records series!

Drinking Mercury – Stay Home

Tim Hoh (Honah Lee) – Something Comes Along

CrookedSound – Awful Bliss

Jason Paul and the Know-It-Alls – We Took The Risk

Ryan Andrews (No Skull) – Because You’re Mine

Nicholas Merz – St Vincent’s Smile

Danielle and Tommy – Red Haired Boy / Soldier’s Joy

Monte Pride – Winter’s Come and Gone

2019 – So Far

Halfway through the year, this is what we’ve got:

Cavalcade – Sonic Euthanasia. A sludgy masterpiece from our favorite experimental metal friends.

The Plurals – Mumblebee. Volume one of GTG noisy-poppy-ceiling-punchers’ “BEES” album series!

Robot (Re)pair – End Transmissions. Wry, catchy, spicy garagey pop-punk from our lovely Arizonan artificial “intelligent” pals.

Jeremy Porter – 1987. The best Detroit powerpopper in the land gets his acoustic side out there for all to bask in.

For The Record Showcase Volume 1. Both a celebration of Sleeping Timmy & Ryne Clarke’s radio show and a new compilation with tons of new and previously unreleased music from Michigan and beyond.

Plenty more to come in the second half of 2019!
