While we’re all still picking up the pieces from the epic final Frank and Earnest show and/or hanging out at 4th of July barbecues, here’s a playlist that we can all groove to today that compiles some of the highlights from the 2017 releases so far. It shows off the cool variety we’ve hit in our monthly release series – and makes it seem like we’re all fixated on George Harrison – and there’s plenty more variety and/or cool things to come. Featuring music from Mad Moon, Hut Two Hike, Two Houses, The Hunky Newcomers, Isaac Richmond Vander Schuur, Tommy Plural, Frank and Earnest, and Calliope. Turn it up!
Check it out! Streaming and available for download at bandcamp, CDs for sale too! 2017 releases are stacking up!
The 2017 release series continues and the family expands on Saturday March 11th with the release of Beach Noir, the debut EP of Lansing garage rockers Hut Two Hike. Recorded in a couple sweaty live sessions at GTG House late last summer, the EP is a rush of chaotic energy, with a three guitar attack bouncing around in a jangly swirl, complementing the wry vocal delivery and the careening rhythm section to deliver a timeless sounding rock and roll performance. An advance review from City Pulse states “the record moves from moody, haunting ballads [to] feisty, organ-driven ‘60s garage-rock” and we can’t wait to share it with everyone. The release party Saturday night, at the Avenue Cafe, also will feature performances from ex-Crucifucks member Lee Gus Varner, and fellow locals Conspicuous Bystanders, Half Tongue, and The Plurettes. Check out more info for the show here and give “Hinterland Hop” a listen below!
The first GTG release of 2017 (one of at least 12!) is out today, The Hunky Newcomers live album Harder Dude Stuff. In their first release in three years, the most loveable dirtbags in Lansing burn through 14 songs from all of their releases, louder, faster, and harder than the records we all know by heart. Recorded last year at a rowdy night at Lansing institution Mac’s Bar, Harder Dude Stuff delivers the goods! Out today digitally and on CD, check it out below as well as a new lyric video for “Gimme A Shot.” Let’s make the New Year happy!
