The Hat Madder “Orgy Opposite” Release Party

The Hat Madder have outdone themselves with a fantastic new full-length album entitled Orgy Opposite. Anyone who’s heard Friend of the Devil and Rogue Notes will not be disappointed, but this time around the pop songs are catchier, the noisy songs are crazier, the instrumentation is more adventurous (strings? drum loops? church organ? wha?!?!?), and the arrangements are bigger. But whereas many bands would fall flat in the face of their own ambitions, Isaac and co. hold it all together and it’s one of the great records that is not only engaging on the first listen but also a grower that rewards repeated listens.

“A fine piece of vaguely grungy, semi-new wavey, pop-rock goodness” – Razorcake

“The songs themselves recall everything from Cheap Trick to TV on the Radio… with hooks never too far underneath the noise” – Demo Schmemo

“A bombardment of Sonic Youth-style noise bits, edgy post-punk and melodic pop-rock, the Hat Madder’s latest album is something of a cornucopia of alternative music that’s catchy, balanced and cool.” – Noise

Orgy Opposite (mixed by ex-Orange skinsman – among other things – Scott Bozack and mastered by “just google his name if you don’t know him already” Jim Diamond) is the first 12″ vinyl LP in the GTG catalog. The street date and ordering availability will be announced soon, but the boys are doing a live performance at Mac’s Bar tonight (11/15) to celebrate the new record, as well as a listening party and music video screening at the Garage in Lansing’s Old Town tomorrow (11/16).
