Head and Toe was one of the early GTG bands and essentially the precursor to Jeremy Quentin’s Small Houses. Led by Quentin on vocals and guitar and violinist Brett McDowell, Head and Toe played a variety of indie-folk styles and released 4 CDs with GTG (2007’s Interstate 80, 2008’s Let the Air In and City of Leaves, and 2009’s posthumous GTG Sessions split) before disbanding in the fall of 2008. Following the demise of the group Quentin formed Small Houses and McDowell has become a solo artist, with both releasing new albums in 2011.
